About me
My name is Adèle Cuel Wood. I am living in Thornton-Le-Dale with my husband Alex and wish to continue transmitting the passion of ballet.

I come from Paris, France where I learnt ballet from the age of 4 and have been teaching ballet beginners for the last 7 years with the certification from the french dance association in Paris.

Since January 2023, I am an active member of the International Dance Council at the Unesco that I was invited to join due to my work in the ballet world and with refugees in Paris.

About my studies
I started ballet in primary school with the Institut international de danse Janine Stanlowa. My first teacher, Sophie Jacquemart, taught me introduction to ballet and the pleasure of transmitting dance knowledge to another. After a few years with the Stanlowa ballet school, I went for 3 months as an intern in the Academy of Choreography in Saint Peterbourg before starting highschool.

During my highschool years, I continued my studies in contemporary and classical ballet with 3 ballet schools in Paris. My parents always wished that I kept a normal course of studies so I would be dancing in the evenings and in the week-ends while continuing highschool studies during the week days. I always wanted to be a ballerina but I was also passionate about football, rugby and swimming. While finishing my highschool degree, I danced with the Opéra national de Paris, the Bejart ballet school Rudra and the Forsythe Company as a substitute.

After 7 years of law school at La Sorbonne - Paris 1, I worked for 3 years as an associate at a law firm specialized in international sport and entertainment law. During this time, I started my training as a teacher assistant in collective classes at the Stanlowa ballet school. I decided to work in ballet full time in 2018.
Ballet in Paris before the Yorkshire
In 2018, I joined the Maison Stanlowa team working at their Parisian shop in the 8th arrondissement and with the Stanlowa ballet school interning as a ballet teacher in elementary schools in the surroundings of Neuilly-sur-Seine.

At the ballet shop, I had the incredible luck to work along side Isabelle Stanlowa and the remarkable team of suppliers and co-workers who made everything possible in reaching our client goals in the ballet world (outfits for schools, pointe shoes fitting, costumes designing, partnerships for galas and events...).
During this time, and while Covid was closing all ballet schools for almost 2 years, I organized ballet classes in charities in the 18th arrondissement of Paris. I also started giving private classes to kids from the age of 4 to 16 years old.

My students had different level of practice : some had just started doing ballet and it was a new passion that needed nurishing to maintain motivation, they were also looking for a sport and an art that stimulated them while all sports activities were stopped. Others needed to stay focused and in shape wanting a professionnal carreer.
I most enjoyed making the beginners getting to know ballet, posture, breathing during effort, musicality... Then I started giving private classes to adults mixing ballet with yoga and pilates.
